Obituary of Andrea Mary Ayer

August 8, 1953 – Edmonton, Alberta

February 17, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

Our beautiful Andrea passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at the age of 68 years.

Andrea had a wonderful youth of athletics, music, dance and academics.  She became a successful executive assistant in the oil industry and at the Law Society of Alberta. Andrea was an artist. She was an avid gardener, lover of animals, and an energetic volunteer.  Her pride and joy was the anthology entitled "Frivolous and Fervent Poetry by Noreen Ayer", which she published after years of gathering hundreds of her scholarly mom's poems and photos. She dedicated this book to her father, John Ayer, a prominent figure in our community who spearheaded efforts to preserve the site of Fort Calgary. Andrea was the primary caregiver for her elderly parents.

She will be missed by her devoted husband, Garth Racher; siblings, Johnny (Liz), Paul (Diana), Mary Ellen (Jim); nieces and nephews, Paula (Shekhar), Sulekha, Carl (Carolyn), Aaron, Sally, Polito and Alejandro, loving friend Jane Bingham, and numerous other relatives and friends.

We thank the Father Lacombe Care Centre for all they did for our dear Andrea.  We will love her and miss her always.
