Obituary of Domenico Iandolo

It is with great sadness that the family of Domenico Iandolo announce his passing on Thursday, February 17, 2022, in Calgary, AB, at the age of 87.

Domenico was born in Avellino, Italy, on November 13, 1934. Domenico made his voyage to Canada in 1959 to marry Gerardina, the love of his life. They settled in Calgary, where they immediately started their family. Domenico will be greatly missed by his devoted wife of 62 years, Gerardina, his daughter, Maria, and sons Gino (Kimberly) and Tony (Angela). Nonno will also be sadly missed by his treasured grandchildren, Amanda, Domenic, Josephina, and Ciara. Sisters Antonietta Testa (Guiseppe) of Airdrie, AB, and Titina Rocca (Mario) of Italy. He will also be missed by his many extended family and friends in Canada, United States, and Italy. Domenico was predeceased by his parents, numerous siblings, nieces, nephews, and grandchild.

Domenico worked in the construction industry, retiring in 2000. He worked tirelessly with his crews to do a job well done and on time. Dad enjoyed gardening, playing bocce, fishing, and had a passion for a game of cards, and wine making. Dad had a big heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand to his family, neighbours, and friends. He enjoyed socializing with his friends over a strong cup of espresso coffee and a shot of Sambuca. Family meant everything to dad, and he was surrounded by love until his last breath.

Funeral Services will be held at Ascension Catholic Parish (1100 Berkshire Blvd Northwest, Calgary, AB) on Friday, February 25, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at McInnis & Hollow Funeral Home (Chapel of The Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB).
