February 19, 2022– Calgary, Alberta

 

Craig Izzard, beloved husband of Lucile Izzard of (nee Dufresne), of Pointe Claire, Quebec, passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the age of 96 years.

 

Craig was born in Linlithgow, Scotland on January 11, 1926. He immigrated to Trois Rivieres, Quebec three times between 1935 and 1940 and then moved to Pointe Claire, Quebec in 1964.

 

Craig graduated from the Three Rivers High School in 1943 before leaving to join the fight against Germany.  He was a flight engineer on a Lancaster Bomber and flew nine bombing missions over enemy territory.  After the war, he attended McGill University in Electrical Engineering and then continued his lifelong career with Consolidated Bathurst where he worked for 49 years and was best known as the manager of their purchasing department.

 

Craig married Lucille (nee Dufresne) in 1955. HeCraig accomplished much throughout his life and was particularly proud of his three children. Craig enjoyed reciting the poem “The Cremation of Sam McGee” and songs like “Smile though your heart is breaking”.

 

Besides his loving wife Lucille, he is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie (Randy) and Jennifer (Bob) of Calgary, AB, son and daughter-in-law, Ian (Laura) of Ottawa, ON; eight grandchildren, Meagan, Kristen, Ryan, Hayden, Nicholas and Hunter of Calgary, and Cameron and Heather of Ottawa, ON; three great-grandchildren, Finn, Brody and Brendan all of Calgary. Craig was predeceased by sister Patricia who passed on February 9, 2009.

 

A Graveside Service will be held at a later date, at the Field of Honour Cemetery in Pointe Claire. Condolences, memories, and photos may also be shared and viewed here.
