Obituary of Phyllis Joyce Lindsay (nee Allenby)
June 10, 1924 - Mayfair, Saskatchewan
February 21, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Phyllis Lindsay of Calgary, AB on February 21, 2022 at the age of 97.
Phyllis is survived by her two brothers, one sister, six children, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Duncan Lindsay in 1968.
Phyllis was an amazing mother. She was widowed at a young age and became the sole parent to her children. She left her role as a stay-at-home mom and started working full-time. She worked at the Salvation Army Children’s Village and Parkwood House until she retired in 1989. During those years, she influenced the lives of many children and young adults.
Phyllis lived a full life. Her first passion was her family which she always found time to take care of. She will be fondly remembered for bringing family and friends together in her home and spoiling them with her wonderful meals and baking. Later in life, she loved to host tea parties, providing her guests with special treats. She will always be remembered as a caring, generous, strong and hard-working woman. We are grateful for all the special memories we have of her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
