Anna Francescato of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022, at the age of 79 years surrounded by loved ones.

Anna was born in Lacedonia, Avellino, Italy on July 27, 1942. She immigrated to Calgary with her family in 1956. Anna met Carlo when he moved to her neighbourhood, after he immigrated to Calgary from Treviso, Veneto, Italy. It was love at first sight for Carlo but not for Anna. His attempts to impress her with his car continuously fell short. It wasn’t until Anna saw how kind and funny Carlo was that she decided to give him a chance. The rest is history. Anna’s greatest joy in life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Anna also enjoyed sharing her amazing cooking with friends and family and was always in the kitchen. However, sharing her recipes was another story; Anna’s recipes were a bit like puzzles and one or two ingredients were always missing.

Anna is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Ginetta and (David) O'Brien, Louise (Yves) Romain, Paula (Derek) Lenko; seven grandchildren, Kaytlan (Travis) Cross, Kelsey (Spencer) Copp, Hannah O’Brien, Joshua Romain (Sarah), Sophie Romain (Nick), Chloe and Lola Lenko; and three great-grandchildren, Ronan and Calvin Copp, and Quinn Cross. Anna is also survived by her family, Lydia and Carl; Lina and Len; Margaret; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other special extended family. Anna was predeceased by her husband Carlo Francescato; parents, Luisa and Michael Megliola; as well as her family Joe and Vera; Leo, Gerry, Anita and Saverio, and Marc.
