Obituary of Robert Elmer Anscombe

January 23, 1946 – Paris, Ontario

February 21, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

 

Bob Anscombe, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022 at the age of 76 years.

 

Bob was born in Paris, ON, on January 23, 1946.

 

He married Helen May 23, 1963, and five years later their family began.  In 1976 Bob made the journey to Calgary, AB finding a place to call home he moved his family here in July 1977.  Calgary was his home and final resting place.

 

Bob accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of his work with 3 Million Miles Safe Driving.

 

He was a friend of Bill’s and a congregation member for twelve years at Eastside Victory Outreach. Bob had a passion for fellowship, bowling, and outdoor picnics, while spending time with his family. Bob an avid driver went on many a road trip, flying was not his style!

 

His favourite saying was “Work your fingers to the bone and what do you get? Bony fingers!”

 

He will be most remembered for his kindness, gentleness and endless service work.

 

Bob is survived by his girlfriend Cheryl Arseneault and her daughter Amanda and her son Zeke; his son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Kelly Anscombe of Chestermere Lake, AB; his daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Andrew Bethune of Calgary, AB; four grandchildren, Terry, Jeffrey, Shane, and Paige; three great-grandchildren, Shayla, Chloe, and Isaiah. Bob earned the title Papa, Brittni, Crystal and Tyler are just a few of those close enough to call him Papa!

 

Bob is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Raulie and Yvonne Holman, of Telkwa, BC; four sisters Pam, Smithers BC Darlene and Brian Dick, of Prince George, BC, Cheryl of Smithers, BC and Debbie of Prince George, BC plus numerous nieces and nephews reaching across Canada; and a large group of extended family and close friends.

 

Bob was predeceased by wife of 48 years, Helen Anscombe; daughter, Tracy Lynn Anscombe; parents June Duncan and Bill Anscombe; and grandparents Ethel and Clifford Duncan.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Eastside, 5388 Memorial Drive NE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
