Obituary of Chad Haws
September 7, 1974 – Taber, Alberta
February 19, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta
Chad Haws, beloved husband of Farah Haws (nee Hakim), of Calgary, AB, passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the age of 47 years old.
Chad was born in Taber, AB, on September 7, 1974. Chad grew up in Vauxhall, AB, and then moved to Strathmore, AB, at the age of 15. He moved to Calgary, AB, in 1995, where he later met and then married his beautiful bride, Farah Hakim, in 2001.
As a caring husband, his love for his wife Farah was evident in his actions and the way he made her laugh and smile. He was her best friend and will live in her heart forever.
Chad was a devoted dad who was very involved with his children and was undoubtedly their number one fan. He had the privilege to be a stay-at-home dad for thirteen years, focusing on raising his children and supporting Farah in all her ambitions. Chad enjoyed cheering on his son at soccer and football, and intently watching his daughter at dance. When not involved with his family, you could find Chad on a golf course, unless it was Sunday or Monday, when he would be watching football - yelling and clapping for the Raiders.
As a son and brother, he loved spending time with his parents and his siblings. His enthusiasm and energy always increased the fun at family functions, especially if it involved dancing, board games, cards, or just conversation.
Chad’s passion for life influenced many around him and served to bring everyone together – Chad and Farah’s home was often the setting for a dinner party or stopover for family and friends passing through Calgary. Goodbyes hurt the most when the story is not finished, and though our hearts are forever broken, rest easy knowing you are worth every single tear that falls.
Chad is survived by his loving wife Farah, daughter Adriana, and son Kaeden.
He is also survived by his parents Joseph and Patricia Haws; in-laws Shabbir and Aban Hakim; grandmother Agnes Howlett, his siblings Kristie (Trevor) Henderson, Riley (Rochelle) Haws, April (Ryan) Arnot, Sheena (Dylan) DeLong; and sister-in-law Amie (Neel) Katyal, who will all miss their big brother; nieces Makenna, Kelti, and Kiptynn Henderson, Norah and Lily Katyal; as well as nephews Lincoln and Benson DeLong, and Atticus and Anakin Arnot, will deeply miss their uncle. Members of Chad’s extended family and his numerous friends will also miss him dearly.
Chad was predeceased by his grandparents Ellis and Zola Haws, and grandfather Ernie Howlett; as well as cousins Troy and Dusty Kallen; uncles Darren Howlett and Gary Schmitz; and aunt Lori Howlett.
The family has asked that anyone with stories and memories of Chad to please share their stories by writing them down. You may bring your memories to the service and leave them in the “memory box” for the family to enjoy at a later time. Chad’s favourite colours were black and silver, and we welcome anyone attending the service to wear these in his honour.
