Shyann Lee Big Sorrel Horse was born in Calgary, AB on November 12, 1992, and was called home on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at the age of 29 years. Shyann “Double Steal Woman-Naa’toi’kii’kamoo’saa’kii” Big Sorrel Horse, had a strong belief and appreciation for our traditional culture and way of life.  

Shyann was born and raised in Calgary, AB and graduated from Lousie Dean. Shyann was a very kind, loving, gentle, and caring person. She was always with her family and friends and attending various programs throughout Calgary, Boys & Girls Club of Calgary, Aboriginal Students Program, YMCA, and USAY’s Indigenous Inclusion Program). She was always up to helping her family in any way that she could. In her younger years, she attended Sunday School around Calgary with her cousins and she got older, she started to attend ceremony with her father, often traveling to southern Alberta and Montana. She was a Daddy’s Girl through and through, she would often stay home and keep her dad company. As she got older, she was always with her sisters, Joslyn and Cherida; her cousins, Dora, Nathan, and LT; and her nieces and nephews.

Shyann is survived by her children, Shelby, Ethan, August, Faith, and Harmony Big Sorrel Horse; her father Robert Jr. Big Sorrel Horse; her siblings, Cherida Tail Feathers, Rhiley, Joshua, Brayden, Summer-Rain, and Serenity Big Sorrel Horse; nieces and nephews, Tommy, Tristan, Niah, Cadance, and Tianna; aunts, and uncles paternal, Delia Many Chiefs, Karen (Bedford) Pard, Joyce (Sheldon) Many Chiefs, Lawrence (Angela) Big Sorrel Horse, and Leslie (Shelly) Big Sorrel Horse; maternal Melba Tail Feathers, Elijah Tail Feathers, Amos Tail Feathers, Rosanne Tail Feathers, and Timothy Tail Feathers. 

Shyann was predeceased by her mother Maryann Big Sorrel Horse; stepfather Bronco Black Horse; sister Joslyn Big Sorrel Horse, nephew Izaiyah Crowchild; paternal grandparents, Robert Sr. and Dora Big Sorrel Horse; maternal grandparents, Herbert Judd and Loretta Tail Feathers; uncles, Faron Many Chiefs, Danny Tail Feathers, Willie Sr. Hunt, and Darrell Daniels; and her cousins Livia Williams, Wanetta Hunt, Olivia Thompson, Alroy Jr. Creighton, Nathan Big Sorrel Horse, and Livia First Charger-Williams.

Wake Services will be held at the Gordon Yellowfly Memorial Arbour (Siksika Nation, AB) on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 6:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at Gordon Yellowfly Memorial Arbour (Siksika Nation, AB) on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Paul Little Walker Cemetery (Siksika Nation, AB). Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
