Condolences
I was very saddened to learn of Doug's passing and I would like to offer my most sincere condolences to Wilda and her family.
My first memories of Doug go back to his early entrepreneur days as owner and manager of Stampede City Cleaners, while also working full time with Foster & Associates. For awhile, he and I and Jack Spratt would get together, once a week, to dabble in folk music. I can still picture Doug, exhausted from his long work days, sitting in a chair, guitar in his lap, dozing off every time we took a break.
Doug was a wonderful man and a very gifted musician. He will be greatly missed by many.

Wilda and Family, our sincere and deepest condolences for your loss. Doug was a wonderful man, very interesting, fun and a joy to be around. We will remember Doug fondly and miss him greatly.
RIP Doug, we know that you are in a wonderful and peaceful place.
The Maughan Family
My thoughts and condolences go out to the whole family.
My most cherished memory of Mr Allen (thats how I always knew him) was that he loved Salt N' Vinegar potato chips. Only Old Dutch would do. There were no other options. As well, the only way there were to be consumed was out of a stainless steel bowl. I remember fondly that on any visit to the Allens house, I was always hopeful that Mr Allen would come home and open a fresh bag. The pure joy he took in something so simple has always stuck in my mind.
To this day, when I open Salt N' Vinegar chips and pour them into a stainless bowl, all my memories of Mr Allen come rushing back as though I'm still sitting in the back yard with him enjoying the evening sunset.
I feel honoured to pass this tradition along to my family. Thank you Mr Allen.
Doug is a very nice employer. I worked with him and Wilda for three years. I enjoyed planting flowers with him during summer time. He also help me gain my confidence when i was still a new driver. He became a friend and a father to me. He will be surely missed. Condolence to Wilda and her family.
Wilda and John, Robert and Peter,
I was sad to hear to Doug's passing. I knew him from the McKinnon Cousin's gatherings and also from McKinnon Allen Agriculture Consultants where he partnered with my father-in -law, Don McKinnon. Though I will not be present at Doug's Memorial, I send my sincere sympathy in your loss. You will be in my thoughts in the days to come.

Just like a few others, I know Doug from his basement jams and rehearsals. As a newcomer to Calgary, he and wife always welcomed me and shared stories from other times. More recently, when Doug was in Wentworth Manor, he would roll into the Monday night jam sessions with Bob Erlendson another resident there. Stay for awhile, tapping his toes and fingers. I’m truly inspired by these gentlemen, their love of music and dedication to keep playing and sharing music for as long as possible.
Doug was a fine and wise gentleman. I got to know him playing in his basement with the Allen Davidson band. He had a great sensibility & love for gentle swing tunes. He and Wilda were also fine hosts and made us band members feel welcome in their home. He is and will be sorely missed. Condolences to Wilda and the rest of Doug's family.
