Obituary of Stephanie Noel Cox

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Stephanie “Noel” Cox on Thursday, February 24, 2022, in her hometown of Cochrane, Alberta at the age of 35 years. 

Stephanie was born in Calgary, AB on December 23,1986, to loving parents Mitzi and Mark Cox. Stephanie grew up in Cochrane, AB with her mother Mitzi, stepfather Ernie Halliday, and her three sisters Brianne, Tiffany, and Madison. After graduating from Bow Valley High School in 2005, Stephanie pursued a music career.

Stephanie was an accomplished musician, vocalist, and composer who taught herself to play the drums, keyboards, guitar, bass, and electric guitar.  She spent countless hours perfecting her artistry, she was the happiest when her creative juices were flowing.  Stephanie was a valued member of many local bands including Decoy Decoy, incodes, and The Martyr Index. She was a high energy performer who absolutely loved being in front of a crowd.

Apart from her music career, Stephanie was an excellent chef and foodie! She worked at many local favorites such as the Ship & Anchor, National, and Joey’s. She made numerous lifelong friends in the industry and was adored by all who knew her.

Stephanie shone brightly and had an uncanny ability to make others feel loved and valued.  Her quick wit, sense of humor, and laugh were infectious, and her warmth was felt by all.   Stephanie, like her mother, was a passionate empath who lavished hugs and kisses on those she cared about.

Stephanie is survived by her parents, Mitzi and Ernie Halliday, Mark Cox; her sisters, Madison and Brianne; her nephew Phoenix, grandparents, Brian and Joan Edmunds, Linda Halliday-Sumner; great-grandmother Betty Poelzer, her partner Krissy Mitchell, and her best pal Peanut. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends as well as her extended family. Stephanie is predeceased by her best friend and sister, Tiffany Cox (2009), her brother-in-law Steven Petri (2015), and her grandfathers, Gordon Halliday (2014) and Robert Gaudry (2020).

Rest easy Baby Wolf. You will forever be loved and missed.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Cochrane, 369 Railway Street, Cochrane, AB), on Friday, March 11, 2022 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Funeral Service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Stephanie’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted. Graveside Service to follow at Cochrane Cemetery. Please join us at the Cochrane Hotel (304 1 St W, Cochrane, AB) between 2:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. in fellowship and celebration. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.

If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to your animal rescue of choice as Stephanie loved animals dearly.
