Obituary of Yvonne Stevenson

Yvonne Stevenson of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2022, at the age of 94 years.

Yvonne was born in Lashburn, SK on November 17, 1927. She moved as a teenager to Vegreville, AB to begin work with Alberta Treasury Branches, then to Lloydminster, AB, and Calgary, AB to work with Husky Oil, eventually becoming an office administrator at First Baptist Church Calgary. She married Allen Stevenson of Calgary in 1953. He predeceased her in June of 2020 after 66 years of marriage.

She will be most remembered for her gentle nature and wry sense of humour. She will also be remembered for being a supportive, and caring wife during Allen’s many times of illness.

Despite her travels to Europe, Hawaii and New Zealand, which she enjoyed so much, her favourite vacations each year were those spent with her extended family members here on the prairies.

Yvonne is survived by her daughter Susan (Rev. Dell) Bornowsky of Regina, and grandson Eli (Hanna) of New York City. Yvonne is also survived by her sister Phyllis, and numerous nieces and nephews and their families, who she so enjoyed visiting over the years. She was predeceased by her sisters and their husbands, Alma (Harry) Heath, Edna (George) Paterson, Margaret (George) Scott, and Florence (Vic) Pasula.

The family is grateful for the love and of Yvonne’s and Allen’s many friends who have supported them over the years.
