Obituary of John Page

March 7, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

John Page, a beloved husband, father, and Papa, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 7, 2022, at the age of 89 years.

John was a thoughtful man. He often created solutions to problems most people wouldn’t know existed. In his garage he could create something to improve the function of the things we use daily like a garage door or the hinges on the cabinets. He could simply manufacture a more interesting way to improve the functionality of his golf bag or replace a light bulb just to make things a little easier. The details didn’t escape him, as one could tell by the number of puzzles he’d put together over his lifetime.

As an avid golfer, John could often be found at the Belvedere golf club in Sherwood Park with his wife Joyce. Their shared love of golf, their family and a good laugh created a partnership by which any marriage could strive to be. In John’s downtime, he’d often have his nose in a good western novel, unless golf or curling was on. He would always save time to watch his favourite two sports; otherwise he’d be out having coffee with ‘the old guys’.

As one of Sherwood Park’s original residents he kept an immaculate yard, solved many small problems in his garage and for over 60 years, raised and hosted his family, proudly under the same roof. John and his wife Joyce raised two children throughout the 60’s and 70’s, Christopher and Cathy who grew up in Sherwood Park and went on to have families of their own. Now, John is survived by his son Christopher (Erica), father to his grandson Stephen and granddaughter Jasmine; daughter Cathy, mother to John (Lisa) and Daniel. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

We will all miss his wit and dry humour. His cautious but sincere laugh and the light that shone in his face at the punchline of every joke he’d tell. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed at here.
