Obituary of Dale Patrick O'Dell

Dale O'Dell of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 7, 2022, at the age of 80 years.

Dale was born in Lethbridge, AB, on May 31, 1941. He moved to Calgary, AB, in the 60’s, and joined the Armed forces in 1961 as a Leading Aircraftman, where he served until 1966. After serving, Dale married Meryl Overton in 1968. They were married for 44 years!

Dale accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of his family; being a dad and grandfather. He graduated from NAIT as a Corrosion Technician. He also had a passion for hunting, car mechanics, and home reno’s. Dale also enjoyed traveling with Meryl, and their most memorable vacations were Palm Springs and Hawaii. Dale will be most remembered for his big personality.

Dale was predeceased by his loving wife Meryl, and is survived by his daughter Karen Kjelstrom (Brian), son Brent (Corinne); and two grandchildren, Blake and Bailey, all residing in Calgary, AB. The Axani’s were dear to his heart and part of his extended family. Other good friends included the Nowlin’s, O’Brien’s, Retzlaff’s, Carlson’s, and our good friend Hugh McMillan. Dale is also survived by his brother Charles; and two sisters, Laura and Charlotte; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Dale was predeceased by his parents, Marie and Charles; and his sisters, Audrey and Mae.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Friday, March 18, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
