Jeffery (Jeff) McDougall of Rural Mountain View County, AB, passed away at his home in Sundre AB on Monday, March 7, 2022 at the age of 62 years.

 

Jeff was born to William McDougall and Christine McDougall (nee Scow) in Alert Bay on July 6, 1959. He lived in Victoria, Gleichen, Redwood Meadows, Calgary and Sundre. Jeff attended SAIT, where he graduated and began his 32-year career as an EMS paramedic. He became one of the First Native American paramedics to serve Alberta, which he did, proudly until his retirement in 2015. In his pursuit of becoming a paramedic, Jeff met Caroline in 1985 and married her after his graduation from SAIT. Together, they adopted their son John who came into their life on March 17, 1989.

 

Jeff was a member of the ‘Namgis First Nation’. He loved the oceanand had endless stories about his days fishing and growing up with his siblings. Jeff was a fisherman, paramedic and self-taught jeweler and, most notably, a terrific father and devoted spouse. As Jeff got older, he carried on the art of his people, becoming a well-known artist, working with silver and gold.

 

Jeff is survived by his son John McDougall, and his Little rescue dog Oscar; his sisters, Mona, Della, Teresa and Jessie; brothers, Ian and David; and his in-laws from Montreal, along with many nieces and nephews. He also Leaves behind his Partner Renee, and their two dogs, Rango and Karma; as well as her family who he had the pleasure knowing as a second family for a short time after the passing of his wife Caroline in 2018. His brother Eddie passed away on March 8, 2022, one day after Jeff’s passing. He was predeceased by his brothers, Dennis, and Jackie.

 

Everyone who met Jeff would remember his big smile, kind heart and his passion for life. There aren’t enough words to properly describe the life of Jeff and the impact he had on those who knew him. He will be dearly missed.

 

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40th Street SE, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
