Obituary of Abraham (Bram) Johannes Galesloot

March 13, 1951 – Utrecht, Netherlands

March 10, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

Abraham Galesloot of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife, siblings and children, on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at the age of 70 years.

He is survived by his loving wife Diane, his daughters, Shauna (Trent) Arneson, and Sandy D’Amico (Will); stepchildren, Michael (Kaley) D’Amico, Cody (Sandra) D’Amico, and Jennifer D’Amico; his grandchildren, Kellee and Brady Kryba, Brandin Arneson, Sarah and Jesse D’Amico, Dylan, Metha and Cohen D’Amico, Isabella and Ava Hayward, and Danica D’Amico, and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Gerrit (Suzanne) Galesloot, Rob (Donna) Galesloot, Donna (Steve) Wizniuk, Theresa Tucker (Mel), Barb (Daryl) Royer; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Gerrit and Gerda, and his grandson Tyler D’Amico.

Abraham, also known as Bram, Bramo, Abe, Dad and Opa, was a very quiet man who had a wicked sense of humour.  He had numerous professions throughout his life because he had so many talents. He loved his puppies, Cooper and Chloe, a good stout and steak, quiet times at the cabin, tinkering in the garage, working on his vintage Mini (he could fix anything), home improvements (he could fix anything), golf, travelling, and reminiscing; and in later life, watching YouTube videos on many subjects.

Bram spent his final days at the Skypointe Hospice in Calgary. The family sends their heartfelt thanks to Carmen, Dr. Gibson, and Dr. Cunningham and to all of the kind staff, their compassionate care made his final days as comfortable as they could be. Their kindness and compassion flowed to all visitors as well.

A private Celebration of Bram’s Life will be held in the summer of 2022.  Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly in Bram’s name to a charity of your choice.
