Obituary of Kerri Bawdon

November 24, 1967 - Virden, Manitoba
March 11, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

Kerri Dawn Bawdon passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Calgary, AB on Friday, March 11, 2022. She was 54 years young.

Kerri was the first born to Betty Graham and Allen Bawdon on November 24, 1967, in Virden, MB. Her “little” brother Jody was not far behind. Kerri was very close to her “Poppy and Granny Bawdon”, Grandma and Grandpa Graham. She attended Elementary and Junior High in Virden, spent a short time in Esterhazy then entered High School in Kelowna at KSS (Kelowna Secondary School); where she met many friends like Marcy, Tracy and Linda who remained lifelong friends.

Kerri lived in Florida for a short time with her mom, youngest sister, Jennifer Dawn, and Jack Chapman (stepdad), then worked in Jack’s restaurant in Elie, MB in the mid 1980’s. In the late 80’s Kerri moved back to Kelowna for a few years before moving to Edmonton, where she called home, for almost two decades. Sandy and Leah became Kerri’s close friends in Edmonton. She worked at J. Ennis Fabrics Ltd until health issues led to a career and city change. She moved to Calgary and took the Unit Clerk Course at Bow Valley College. Kerri then worked for the Brenda Strafford Foundation at Clifton Manor as the Supply Clerk. During this period in her life, Kerri spent a lot of time with her Auntie Penny, Uncle Eddie, Auntie Faye, cousins, and nieces.

Due to her health conditions, Kerri was unable to have children, however she enjoyed being an “auntie” to many. As a teenager Kerri “mothered and mentored” her sister Jennifer Dawn (aka Dawn Bob) while their mother worked shift work as a nurse. The stories Dawn Bob could tell… While in Edmonton, Kerri treasured spending time with Ryland and Cassandra, young children at the time. She also had a special relationship and love for her niece Amina, who will always be a true blessing in her life and forever an angel in her eyes. She would do anything for Amina.

Kerri will always be remembered as having a quirky sense of humour. She was easy to be around and never wanted to be a burden. Though she endured more physical challenges than most people could ever imagine, she never let her health issues define her. She had three open heart surgeries, spent the majority of her life on blood thinners, had brain surgery for a rare brain disease, all the while, maintaining a fierce sense of independence. She really lived HER way! Many thanks to all of her Healthcare Professionals and her recent family doctor, Dr. Asher, as well as the Congenital Heart Clinic team at the Peter Lougheed Centre, for their compassionate care. Kerri appreciated and enjoyed the company of Gayla, her landlord, a fellow dog lover and friend.

Kerri; granddaughter, daughter, sister, niece, auntie and friend…you will be missed, especially by Chase, your beloved Chihuahua. We know you are at peace and finding comfort, surrounded by the love of those who have gone before you - Granny and Poppy Bawdon, Grandma and Grandpa Graham, your momma and your beloved fur babies, Diesel and Toby. “Mama I’m Comin’ Home”
