Obituary of Gayle Theresa Paolini

January 12, 1956 – Calgary, Alberta
March 11, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

The world lost a beloved wife, mother and friend, Gayle Paolini, on Friday, March 11, 2022. Gayle passed away surrounded by her husband Tony, and daughters, Chelsea and Ashley.

Gayle worked as a librarian for the Calgary Board of Education for over 25 years. Her colleagues knew her as a kind, generous soul, always willing to help her students whether it was picking out a favorite book, or bringing in food or clothing for those in need.

Gayle leaves behind her best friend, soulmate and husband of 45 years, Tony, her daughters, Chelsea Paolini (Darren Fong) and Ashley Paolini (Rory Dawson), who provided her with years of love and memories, along with her two special people - her grandchildren, Logan and Neely whom Gayle loved dearly and will be watching over.

Gayle is also survived by her parents, Millie and Al Krenzel, sisters Wendy Krenzel (June Hamer), Pam Krenzel (Doug Martineau), and Lynn Wilson (Ron Wilson); sisters-in-law, Rosina Ulisse (Angelo Ulisse), and Anna Oshust; brother-in-law Chic Paolini (Marie Paolini), along with numerous nieces and nephews. Welcoming Gayle to her afterlife, with a glass of wine, is brother-in-law Mike Oshust and niece Angel Oshust, - what a party that will be!

Gayle had a fondness for vacations, the sun and a good book. Always the life of the party, Gayle loved to entertain and always brought a smile to everyone.

Despite her put together style, and positive attitude, Gayle had been struggling with heart disease and complications due to type 1 diabetes.

We would like to thank the excellent nursing staff and care team at the Foothills Medical Centre, CICU for their outstanding care. As well as Dr. Michael Curtis, Dr. William Hall and Pat Hall for keeping her alive as long as they did.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Parish (2424 24 Ave NW, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 12:30 p.m. Reception and Tributes to follow in the Church Hall. Gayle has asked you bring your best “Gayle Stories” to share with the family. A memorial book will be onsite for written stories for the family to keep.
