Obituary of Lorna Agnes Elizabeth White (nee Niblock)

January 27, 1933 – Red Deer, Alberta
March 12, 2022 –  Calgary, Alberta

Lorna Agnes Elizabeth White of Calgary, Alberta passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at the age of 89 years.

Born in Red Deer, Lorna moved to Calgary where she graduated college and met her husband, Robert Earl White, a Canadian navy veteran whom she married in 1952.

Family and friends were always important to her, and her home was host to many a seasonal family gathering. Throughout her life, she and her three sisters, Verna, Pat and Bobby were always very close. Lorna’s youngest sister Bobby passed away recently, joining members of our family lost but never forgotten, including Lorna’s husband Bob, her nephew Ian, and her parents Lily and Alex. Lorna is survived by her loving family, three children, Jan and Rob both of Vancouver, BC, and Shawn of Osaka, Japan; four grandchildren, Mark of Germany, Trish of Vancouver, and Alysha and Kayla of Osaka, Japan; and two great-granddaughters, Amalia of Germany and Andrea of Vancouver; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Throughout her life, Lorna’s passions included sewing, which she both did and taught; reading and books, which led to her career in a library; travel and photography, all of which she shared with family and friends.

Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lorna’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta or the YWCA of Calgary.

In living memory of Lorna White, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, and a bench will be dedicated to her in Vancouver beside the bench dedicated to her husband, Bob.
