Condolences
The Cormack family (Tom and Fran) sends condolences and deepest sympathy to all of Art's family. We have many lovely memories teaching and socializing with Art at both Fowler and Crescent! We had great staff dinners, parties, baseball games, curling nights, ski trips--lots of fun! We hope that Art, Tom and others are having "heavenly parties" these days!!!
We trust that all of Art's family will find comfort in all of their wonderful memories of family times together. Blessings all!

My condolences to Carol and to Arthur’s family. I was fortunate to know Arthur as a friend throughout our teaching careers, starting at James Fowler High School in 1969. It was always a delight to come to his family home in Huntington Hills and visit with him and meet his two dear children, Cheryl and Derek, whom he and Barb had taught to be so very polite. It was a joy to play squash or golf or slo-pitch ball with him. He could never back off from a challenge to twist arms with someone. I would accept his challenge sometimes, knowing I would hear that friendly chortle immediately after he pinned my arm to the table. I was fortunate to work part time with him and Tom Cook in their after-retirement home renovation business. He always seemed to wear that somewhat mischievous but friendly smile.
Mr. Zelmer was my Math 30 teacher at Viscount Bennett in 1982. I also was in Food Science 30 and we had an assignment to invent a new recipe. I "invented" cabbage rolls using purple cabbage (without losing the colour) and filled with wild game meat. Mr. Zelmer was my provider of the wild game meet. I also got to know Cheryl back in the 80's through a mutual friend (Adrian family) in the community. I thought highly of Mr. Zelmer as my teacher. Glenn P. Michell Viscount Bennett class of 82.
My condolences to Carol and the family. I had only known Art for about 10+ years, I was fortunate to have golfed with him over this period at Countryhills and to have shared and enjoyed his company. Art would occasionally invite the golf group over to his place where we would have a drink while discussing golf, his camping trips and other world events. While Art was a skilled golfer, he was more than willing to play with others that found the game more challenging. Art was a kind person and will be missed.

Condolences to all the family.
I wish this was a roasting for Art rather than this recognition. I could say a lot! Art mentored me as a first year teacher at Fowler in the 60’s and without it I probably wouldn’t have survived. He was always the first to stand up to get any work done whether it was making a worksheet, spreading a load of gravel, or finishing off the Brandy. As my life moves along there have been “triggers” that have and will remind me of times we shared, and for me, as his family, his life made differences in mine and he will not be forgotten!
Our thoughts and condolences are with the family at this time.
Art Irwin has many happy memories of growing up with his cousin Art in the 40s and 50s at Antler, SK.
Keep memories and family close.
Art and Adele Irwin
My condolences to you all. I taught with Art and he was a lovely man and an excellent teacher. Cheryl, I taught you and loved your work and work ethic, obviously taught to you by your dad. My love to you all. May your memories be filled with love and laughter.
