Obituary of Michael Romanuik

Michael Romanuik of Calgary, AB, passed away at the South Health Campus on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at the age of 69 years.

Michael was born in Toronto, Ontario on October 1, 1952, and ventured west with his Mom to Calgary in 1993. He worked at Metro Glass Products for over fifteen years until his retirement in 2009.

His days were spent with the staff and clients at Calgary Community Day Services enjoying what Calgary had to offer.  Michael’s home for the last nine years was at More T’A Life (Personal Care Home) where he had friendship and laughs with his mates.

Michael was a passionate sports fan.  He loved to cheer on his favorite Toronto sports teams the Blue Jays and the Maple Leafs.  His favourite pastime was walking various Calgary parks and pathways.  He always enjoyed a beer and some chicken wings at a local pub. His favourite meal, ribs at Tony Romas, with family and friends. Michael loved to travel.  He took trips to B.C., Arizona, California, Idaho, and Montana with his family. 

Michael is survived by brothers Nicholas (Leigh) and Larry, sister Marie as well as extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his mom, Bernice and sister-in-law Alison Weekes.

A Celebration of Michael’s Life will be held at the Windsor Rose Pub (151 Walden Gate SE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, April 2, 2022 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.  In keeping with his love of sports, wear something that supports your favorite sports team. The family would like to thank the following people who made an impact on Michael’s life with friendship and care.  Diane and Tim Dmytryshyn and staff at C.C.D.S, Mavis Blake, Ariana, Fen, Lilianna, Milton, and Alana at M.T.L.  A special note of gratitude to the staff of the Emergency Department and Unit 68 of the South Health Campus.  Thank you for the care and compassion given to Michael in his final days.
