Fred Thomassen beloved husband of Lillian Thomassen (nee Vance) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at the age of 84 years.

 

Fred was born in Grande Prairie, AB. He was raised in Bergen, AB and worked various jobs in Central Alberta before settling in Calgary in 1966. 

 

Lillian Vance married Fred on June 23, 1961, in Madden, AB

 

Fred started F & M Trailer Repair in 1979, later forming Circle B Trailer Sales and Service in 1983. In 2003 Fred retired from the industry.

 

Fred enjoyed hunting, camping, and quadding with his family.  He was an avid fan of chuckwagons, and the summers found him following the WPCA chuckwagon circuit from Dawson Creek, BC to Kennewick, WA. Fred and Lillian sponsored several drivers over the years. Fred volunteered at the Odd and Unusual Sales in Burnt Lake and Innisfail for twenty plus years. 

 

Fred is survived by his wife Lillian (nee Vance), daughter Debbie Dyer (Mike), grandson Garrett, son Don (Coleen), granddaughter Jasmine Henry (Steve), great granddaughter Layla, brother-in-law Ralph Vance (Diane) and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, father and sister.

 

A Gathering will be held in Celebration of Fred’s Life at McInnis & Holloway Hospitality Center (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 1:00 p.m to 4:00 p.m. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
