Obituary of Shun Lee Wong

October 3, 1923 - Poling, Swatow, China

March 18, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

Shun Lee Wong, beloved wife of the late Moek Seng Wong, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2022 at the age of 98 years.

Shun Lee was originally born in Thailand and moved to China when she was very young. She spent most of her life in Hong Kong, China, before immigrating to Canada in 1982. Shun Lee married Moek Seng in 1940. Shun Lee accomplished much through her life and was particularly proud of being a housewife, a mother, a grandma and a great-grandma. She enjoyed knitting, playing Mah-jong, and having a sip of cognac during dinner. She will be most remembered for her humor, honesty, kindness, easy going personality, and the generosity and care she had for her family and others.

Shun Lee is survived by her three daughters and two sons-in-law, Dannie and Heung Tak in Hong Kong, China, Anita and Chuck in Vancouver, BC, and Yonnie in Vancouver, BC; six sons and six daughters-in-law, Yee Wah and Muk Ching in Hong Kong, China, Yu Kiong and May Yuk in Hong Kong, China, Paul and Donna in Vancouver, BC, Eddy and Wendy in Calgary, AB, James and Fion in Hong Kong, China, and Roger and Jenny in Calgary, AB; twenty-one grandchildren and their spouses, Lung Yan and Yuen Ting, Samantha, Lung Sang, Maggie and Wai Hong, Fiona and Moran, Zonia and Zon, Alan and Sukonta, Dicky and Becky, Ida, Terence and Suki, and Rachel and Sheldon, all of Hong Kong, China, Albert and Katie, Connie and Jason, Belinda and Terence, Faye and Ian, Dwight, and Jonathan, all of Vancouver, BC, Gloria and Nelson, Derrick, Andy, and Kenneth, all of Calgary, AB; twenty-two great-grandchildren, Chi Him, Chi Ying, Ho Yin, Ying Kiu, Kwan Yin, William, Emma, Make, Alanis, Lucas, Clarissa, and Harris, all of Hong Kong, China, Cameron, Clinton, Kayla, Jordon, Karissa, Ezra, Zyla, and Reid, all of Vancouver, BC, and Myles, and Charli of Calgary, AB.

Shun Lee was predeceased by her husband Moek Seng, one brother in Thailand, and one sister in Hong Kong.

黄許順梨女仕，原生地於泰國，幼時搬遷中國，後居住香港，在一九八二年移民加拿大。她在一九四零年結婚，生平喜歡針織，打麻雀及晚飯時一小杯拔蘭地，享受為人母親，祖母及曾祖母。為人幽默，坦誠，慈祥，慷慨，平易近人，樂於幫助其他人，關懷及照顧家人。兒孫滿堂，人數眾多，在此不能盡錄，請参閱以上英文名單。慟於二零二二年三月十八日與世長辭，終年九十八歲。謹定於加拿大卡加利時間二零二二年三月二十五日〈星期五〉上午十一時正假座金鍾殯儀館 (Chapel of The Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB) 舉行喪禮，隨後出殯歸土，安葬皇后墓園 (Queen’s Park Cemetery, 3219 4 Street Northwest, Calgary, AB) 。如親友不能親臨參加喪禮，可接駁以下現場視頻，在網上觀看及参與喪禮儀式。如有任何問題，請與黄麗玉(Yonnie Wong) 聯絡。

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of The Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mrs. Wong’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service.
