Obituary of Carol Dianne Breault

December 22, 1941 - Provost, Alberta

March 20, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

Dianne Breault beloved wife of the late Al (Elphege) Breault of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at the age of 80 years.

Dianne was born in Provost, AB. on December 22, 1941. One month later her father was deployed overseas to join the allies.  Upon his return to Canada (six years later) the young family settled in Killam, AB, where Dianne lived until age sixteen.  She moved to London, Ontario to spend the next six years with the Sisters of St. Joseph Convent.  Dianne returned to Alberta, moving to Edmonton to work for First Investors. It was in Edmonton that Dianne met a dashing young lad named Al Breault whom she married in 1966 and they enjoyed 46 years together. After living in Edmonton for 18 years, they relocated to Calgary in 1984.

Dianne was predeceased by her loving husband Al (2012), and her parents Rose (1997) and Adolph Schaffler (2000).

For many years, Dianne was an active member of several Catholic parish liturgy committees including St. Dominic Savio (Edmonton) and St Gerard’s (Calgary). She loved to share her artistic, design, and crafting skills decorating churches, for weddings, and other milestone celebrations.  Dianne always had a soft heart for children and shared this love with many children in a variety of ways:  mentoring and supporting Shantel Meier; providing before and after school care for many neighbors and friends; and always keeping in touch with her many nieces and nephews. After Al’s retirement, they were able to experience many happy trips to California and Arizona where they enjoyed sites like Disneyland and the Grand Canyon. In Alberta, they loved to visit Bragg Creek and William Watson Lodge.

In her youth, Dianne was a figure skater and she’d love to watch it on TV at every possible opportunity. She enjoyed sharing and discussing the shows with sisters. Watching the “Olympics” was something Dianne looked forward to and loved. Music was another delight for her. In recent years, she and her good friend and companion, Dave Price, spent many hours listening to music they loved - classical and oldie goldies.

Dianne is survived by her five younger sisters and one brother: Cheryl Weisgerber of Calgary, Kathi (Mike) Weisgerber of Wetaskiwin, Marilyn (Jim) Maloney of Lacombe, Daniel (Sherry) Schaffler of Ottawa, Lori (Rich) Reardon of Los Angeles, Jacqueline (Howard) Trofanenko of Calgary, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church (8944 Elbow Drive S.W., Calgary, AB) on Friday, April 8, 2022 at 11:00 a.m; this is open to all. Reception to follow at the church in the parish hall.
