BROWN, Thomas (Tom) Douglas

August 2, 1940 – Glasgow, Scotland

March 22, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

The family of Thomas Douglas Brown is deeply saddened to share the news of his passing on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at the age of 81 years.

Tom was born in Glasgow, Scotland on August 2, 1940, to William and Agnes Brown. Tom and Pat were married in 1963 in Glasgow and after that the adventure began. The following years Tom and Pat and their growing family travelled to Trinidad, Indonesia, and England before happily settling in Calgary, Canada.  Throughout his career Tom took great pride in contributing to many significant projects such as Hibernia in Newfoundland, Syncrude in Fort McMurray, Highland Valley Copper in British Columbia, and The Trinidad Petroleum project.

Tom loved soccer, which he played and coached.  He was also a fan of the Glasgow Rangers.  In addition to soccer, Tom loved any sport that his children and grandchildren participated in.  He was so proud of them and loved them all dearly.

Besides his loving wife, Tom is survived by his two children Sharon (Brian) and Martin (Cindy); four grandchildren, Jack, Beth, Amanda, and Max. He is also lovingly remembered by his dearly loved sister Irene and brother-in-law Gordon, brother-in-law Peter; nephews Graeme and Colin, and his niece Lindsay. Tom was predeceased by his parents, and sister-in-law Jean.

A celebration of Tom’s life, where we will raise a glass and share some amusing stories, will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at 403 Local Eatery & Bar (380 Canyon Meadows Dr SE). Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
