Obituary of Mike James Hansen
April 29, 1985 - Winnipeg, Manitoba
March 20, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta
Mike slipped away peacefully in his sleep on March 20, 2022. He was born April 29, 1985 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Mike was raised in Richmond, BC where he played hockey, La Crosse, soccer, baseball, cricket and golf. He loved music and joined the choir in Grade School. Mike completed grades 11 and 12 at Henry Wisewood High School in Calgary, AB. He played on the basketball and football teams. His love for music grew rapidly where he gathered with friends and wrote and performed Rap Music. Mike poured his heart into every new challenge he took on. He was encouraging to others and often shared his skills so they could improve in whatever endeavor they were trying to accomplish. Mike took great pride in helping others and would always stand up for the weak and less powerful souls. He was brave, courageous and enjoyed singing Karaoke at various venues and busking at the mall. He was kind-hearted with a unique flair about him. His passion was voicing his thoughts through writing lyrics and promoting his rap music on YouTube and CD’s.
Mike is survived by his loving mother, Joanne; his brothers, Ryan Thomson, Dr. Dan Karasic, and Cam Hansen; his aunts and uncles, James, Peggy, Dale, Debi, Bob, Lori, Lyle, Donalda, Wayne, and Heather; his loving Baba, Liz Rozumniak; and numerous cousins. Mike was predeceased by his loving grandparents, Mae and Sven Bergh; Wilfred (Swede) Hansen; his cousin, Jay Lynn Peters; his loving Guido, Mike Rozumniak; and his cat, Gordie.
Mike was supported by a team of professionals who loved him dearly. Many thanks and heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Francis Manor, the DOAP Team at the Alex, and the staff and outreach workers at Pathways for Housing.
