Obituary of David (Ching Cho) Leung

David Leung of Calgary, AB, beloved husband of Marie Leung (nee Czarnecki) passed away peacefully with his family at his bedside on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 90 years of age.

David was born in Baguio, Philippines on May 23, 1931, moving to China early in life and then later to Hong Kong to live with his grandmother. He immigrated to Canada in 1955 coming to Regina, SK where he met the love of his life Marie. They married in 1959 and became inseparable for the next 62 years. He achieved much in life through hard work in the restaurant business becoming an accomplished chef and was particularly proud of owning his own restaurant (David’s Café) in Watrous, SK. He retired from the Baker Centre - Alberta Social Services in 1987. He and Marie had many memorable trips to the USA, Europe, Hong Kong, and China in their retirement. He was a loving husband, father, and devoted family man.

Besides his loving wife Marie, David is survived by his two sons, Donald (wife – Candace Leung) and Daniel (partner – Ken King) all residing in Calgary, AB. He is also survived by his two much loved granddaughters, Shannon Leung and Erin Leung both residing in Calgary, AB. David is also survived by his two brothers, Ching Yuen Leung (Yolanda) and Ching Wah Leung (Ah Lee); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

David was predeceased by his father, Cheng Cheuk Leung; mother, Consuelo Yan Suelan; brother, Ching Hoi Leung; and two sisters, Rosalind Leung and Ching Yim Chan. 

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held later.
