Obituary of Joseph Dean Dixon
May 8, 1976 – High River, Alberta
March 25, 2022 – Morley, Alberta
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, son-in-law and friend, Joseph Dean Dixon on Friday, March 25, 2022 at the age of 45 years.
He leaves behind to mourn his wife of 18 years, Delphine Ear, his children Elijah, Josienne; and stepdaughter Melvina (Merlon); grandchildren, Genesis, Caleb, Blaine and Alexa; loving father Lawrence (Lori-Anne), sister Dolly, nieces and nephews, Tashawn, Odis, Avery, Isaiah, Kaydens, Tyrone; and half-siblings, Patrick, Spike, Savina, Sidney and Theoren; aunts Alvina Lefthand, Sandra and Phyllis; uncle Wyatt, cousins, Chief Darcy (Kathy), Bruce, Diane (Myron), Theresa, Corinna, Tammy, Mina, Eva (Van), Ollie, Nan (Bruce), Bonnie, Lavinia, Natisha, Jasper, Dallas, Jay (Cory), Rena (Donald), Viola, Marietta and Harvey; adopted brothers, Eric Salter, Vern (Beverly) Hunter, Terrence Poucette, Sherman Stevens, Calvin (Amy) Thunder; and most importantly his quad riding buddies, Terrence, Chad, Tye, and Alden. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Maxine, aunts-in-law, Mary, Linda (Marty); adopted father-in-law Jackson (Brenda) Wesley and Johnny Ear; sisters-in-law, Caroline, Ora, Jeanetlin, Felicia (Clint), Georgina (Jubol), Heather (Darcy), Shelley (Ken), Shallon (Kyle) and Kyelena; brothers-in-law, Leonard, Duane, John (Nonie), Conlin (Josette), Johnny, Dallas, Jarrod, Willis; and many relatives from Maskwacis and Ma-Me-O Beach, Montana Band and Eden Valley. We apologize if we have missed anyone.
Joseph was employed with Bearspaw Housing and really enjoyed working for the nation, He was a compassionate and caring man. He took pride in being able to help out whenever he could. He loved his family fiercely and love spending time with them. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to quad ride with his buddies. He always looked forward to our annual summer family hunt camp in McLean Creek, AB. Since he was young, he loved sports such as hockey, volleyball, baseball, and horseshoe. Most importantly he was grandson Caleb’s number one fan and attended all his hockey practices and games. He encouraged him repeatedly to continue playing. Joseph was such an outgoing guy and he made many friends wherever he went. He was also a wildfire fighter and a crew leader before his health forced him to retire early
Joseph was predeceased by his infant son Joseph Jr., mother Shirley, siblings, Shannon, Stacey, Elaine; maternal grandparents, Alan and Sylvia Dixon; uncle Vernon and Aunt Patsy; paternal grandparents, Paul and Florence Dixon; uncles, Paul Jr. and Don; aunts, Doris, Dorothy, Ella, Maisie; nephew Lennox, and niece Emma, and father-in-law Clifford Powderface.
Wake Services will be held at the residence of Maxine Ear (Morley, AB) on Tuesday, March 29, 2022. Funeral Services will be held at the Bearspaw Youth Centre (Morley, AB) on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Dixon Hill Cemetery (Morley, AB).
