Obituary of Antonia Sacco

July 17, 1925 - Arce, Frosinone, Italy

April 7, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

Antonia Sacco (nee Di Palma) beloved wife of Joseph Sacco, of Calgary, AB passed away peacefully on Thursday April 7, 2022, at the age of 96 years old.

Antonia was born in Arce, Frosinone, Italy on July 17, 1925.  She immigrated to Canada in 1953, and later married Joseph on November 29, 1955.  She had 2 children, Umberto, and Liliana. 

Antonia was a very hard worker throughout her life. She started at a young age working on the farm and fields in Italy.  She had a talent for growing a beautiful garden, and she also was a fantastic cook. 

Later she worked various jobs in Calgary.  She took a hairdressing course with Marvel College Beauty School, and with a supportive friend that helped with translating from Italian to English, she was able to complete this course.  Other jobs included custodian for a school and server/waitress for the Palliser Hotel at banquets.

Antonia loved her family, and always spoke of how wonderful and kind her parents were, when she was younger and lived in Italy.  She was close to her siblings and always mentioned her numerous nieces and nephews. She had a special place in her heart and adored her children, and her grandchildren.  They were always the priority in her life. Antonia was loved by many, especially her family. 

Antonia is survived by her children, Umberto, and Liliana; her grandchildren, Giovanni, Alessandra, and Matteo; many nieces and nephews, and her son-in-law Santo. 

Antonia was predeceased by her mother Anna DeSantis, her father Amato Di Palma, her beloved husband, Joseph and all her siblings, Domenico, Chiara, Arcangelo, Giuseppe, Concetta, Pietro, and Paolo.

Antonia will be missed but she will always be in our hearts.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of The Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
