Condolences
Susan, Steven and families- sad to see the passing of your mom. What a great person, so many memories I’m sure. I’ll always remember her energy, spectacular laugh and always a smilingly, welcoming approach.
Take care

Barb was one of my mother's best friends from elementary school until Mom's passing in 2008. When we were kids we loved it when the "Bridge Ladies" were hosted at our house. All of the ladies were dressed up, made up and perfumed. The laughter seemed endless as this group - - who played bridge together for at least six decades - - shared their lives and stories of their families. The kids were included in the Grey Cup Party (a highlight every year) until the adults decided it was time for us to have our own parties. Mom and Dad hosted a barbecue most summers at our cabin for the bridge ladies and their husbands. I always felt lucky to have so many wonderful friends of my parents around while growing up, and then as an adult to finally feel bold enough to address them by their first names, instead of Mrs. Castle, etc. What a terrific group of people, and Barb was especially remarkable, delivering Meals on Wheels and driving "old" people to appointments when she herself was no spring chicken! Barb was full of energy and always sported a tan from golfing and visits to Hawaii. My sympathy to all of you on her passing.
I also met Barb when we curled at the Big Four. She was a joy to know! When the Westwinds closed and we moved to the Arc, I will never forget "the Golden Girls team". All four in their 80's, still a competitive rink, and the nicest ladies. Rest in peace, Barb!

Steve, I was so sad to read of Barb's passing, she was such a lovely person, besides being a great curler, golfer and all round good team mate. I first met her while curling at the Big Four, when I was pregnant with my youngest son in 1970. We met up again at the Westwinds Curling Club - now the Glenmore Christian School - when the Big Four building closed the curling rinks. During the summer months, we golfed at Shaganappi on Wednesday mornings. For the past few years our only contact has been when bumping into each other at the Richmond Co-op and once a year at the President's luncheon. She kept me up to date on your life and I admired how active she remained, not only physically, but mentally! I will never forget her, she was a good sport about everything. My deepest condolences to you and your siblings, Steve.
Please accept our sincerest condolences on the passing of Barb Castle.

Steve,
We were saddened to to read about your Mom's passing. Although we didn't know her that well, we certainly knew who she was at the curling rink. Our condolences go out to you and your family.

Sorry to hear of the passing of Barbara. She was a great Lady! Full of fun and always upbeat. So glad I got to know her better through Golf Club at Shag! She will be missed.
We are very saddened to hear of the passing of Mrs. Castle. She was an amazing woman, wonderful friend and a great neighbour. Sending condolences to the family and all who will miss her.
So sad to hear of Mrs Castle’s passing. I’ve known her since I was a kid and she was always so lovely. Even up until about 7 years ago, she would pop into my old house to say hello. Sending prayers to the family.
I'm so sorry to learn of Mrs. Castle's passing. She was such a life force. I think of her fondly and am remembering what a great friend she was to my mom. She truly lived her life to the fullest and gave so much to others. Truly a life well lived. My deepest sympathy to all who loved her.
When I saw the announcement in the paper this AM it brought back a lot of good times we shared- curling, golfing, going for lunch and just laughing about things. Those are my memories and I expect yours as well.
