April 9, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

Concetta Giammarino (nee La Pietra), beloved wife of the late Pietro Giammarino, and living Edward Senger, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the age of 91 years.

Concetta was born in Lanciano, Chieti Prov, Italy on November 11, 1930. Concetta completed training as a seamstress in Lanciano and helped many of her family and friends with their sewing needs. She was a member of the St Luke's Prayer group, Crowfoot YMCA, and the Catholic Women's League, where she also spent time volunteering. Concetta accomplished much through her life and was particularly proud of her four boys, her 50th wedding anniversary milestone with Pietro, and the many Bocce Championships at the Calgary Italian Club. She was also excited to get her driver’s license at age 64!

Concetta was an amazing mother and chef and particularly enjoyed having help from her grandchildren. She had a passion for sewing, crocheting, knitting, gardening, and playing Bocce. She loved spending time with people, especially having her family together for special occasions, or just dinner any day of the week. She had a zest for life and living it to it's fullest. Concetta had a green thumb and loved to garden. Her most memorable vacation was her 50th anniversary cruise to the Caribbean. She will be most remembered for her love of life, her laughter, and her giving spirit.

Besides her loving spouse Edward Senger, Concetta is survived by her three sons and three daughters-in-law, Luigi (Gail) of Calgary, AB, Ron (Steph) of Vancouver, BC, and Ricardo (Elizabeth) of Calgary, AB; nine grandchildren, Krista, Candice, Matthew, Jessica, Jacob, Mark, Alyssa, Rebecca, and Katie; and her six great-grandchildren, Jakob, Tyler, Henry, James, Charlie, and Huxley. Concetta is also survived by her sister Italia Falce of Cannes, France, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends in Italy, France, and Canada.

Concetta was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Pietro Santino Giammarino, son Lorenzo Bruno Giammarino, her mother and father Rosina Olivieri and Luigi La Pietra, brother Nicola La Pietra, and sister Maria Ciarelli.
