Condolences
Cailea and family, We are so sorry to hear about Don's passing. You and your dad had such a special bond and I know you have lots of terrific memories to reflect on. Don was a generous and caring person. We will always remember him fondly and we send you our love and a great big hug. Joan, Jimmy & Michelle
Cailea (Matt), Dwight (Susan), and loved ones of Don.
I have special memories of my cousin, Don and his family growing up. They lived in Calgary and we were in Edmonton. I remember taking the Greyhound bus to visit and go to the Stampede, and we also had many family holidays at Sylvan lake.
I remember Don’s love of cars. He drove a pretty powerful Mustang if I remember correctly. It was a gorgeous car but a little scary to me as it had a very powerful engine.
I was honoured to be a bridesmaid in Don’s first wedding party. Last fall I sent him a few pictures of us in our younger days, which I hear he got a kick out of. I also remember his loving and being involved in sports. He alway had problems with his knees, which he suffered with for many years.
I didn’t see him much in our adult years as we were all busy in our careers and family life. I was able to talk to him a few times over the years and I feel blessed to have had that opportunity.
I am glad we were able to connect a few times this year. He couldn’t say enough about his daughter, Cailea. He was so proud of her and her accomplishments. Don was lucky to have her and Dwight always there for him.
My husband, Doug is an avid Blue Jays fan and never misses a game. He has volunteered to be Don’s official Blue Jays cheerleader in Don’s honour.
Wishing you all love and peace during this trying time.
Rest in peace, Don.
