Obituary of Debra Gail Bowering

August 1, 1959 - Regina, Saskatchewan

April 17, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

We lost our incredible mom, Debbie Bowering of Calgary, AB on Sunday, April 17, 2022 at the age of 62 years. She passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her children, Gary and Brittni, and her sister Shelley.

She was the strongest woman we ever knew, the one we all went to for advice and the host of almost every family gathering.

Debbie (or Deb as most of her friends called her), was an extremely generous and thoughtful person. The kind of person who put everyone else’s needs before her own. She loved to volunteer and support her community, which made her position in the community investment department at Fortis Alberta a perfect fit for her. Deb also loved travelling and was always planning her next adventure. She loved being outside, gardening, hiking, golfing and cross-country skiing.

Deb’s family and friends were her world. And if you got to call her your friend, then like us, you probably feel pretty lucky.

We’ll miss her laugh at the dinner table, her casually schooling us at every card game and more than anything else, we’ll all simply miss the positivity, joy and warmth that she brought to everyone she met

and everything she did.

A Celebration of Debbie’s Life will take place on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. in the Bridgeland Riverside Community Association (917 Centre Ave NE, Calgary, AB, T2E 0C6).
