Obituary of John Peter Laboucan

December 25, 1951 – Whitefish, Alberta
April 14, 2022 – High Prairie, Alberta

John Peter Laboucan was called home by our Creator on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at the age of 70 years.

Peter was raised in Whitefish Lake, AB, by his grandmother. He spent many years working at the sawmill in High Prairie before moving to Morley, AB in 1999. Peter enjoyed hunting, music and singing, crafting, watching baseball and hockey, and spending time at the casino.  He was active in the community, participating in sober walks, and loved traditional foods.

Peter is survived by his common-law spouse Vivian Hunter, his brothers, Alvin Laboucan and Floyd Laboucan; his sisters, Cecile Thunder and Arlene Laboucan, his nephews, Ernest (Patty) Thunder, Alfred Thunder, and Paul Thunder; his niece Shirley Thunder, and his adopted children, Melissa Hunter and Edward Hunter. Peter is also survived by his uncle David, brother-in-law Michael Hunter, sisters-in-law, Tina Fox, Evelynn (Jeff) House and Virginia House; brothers-in-law, Brian House, Tater (Dixie) House, Tyrone (Verna) Hunter, and Clint (Cindy) Hunter; his special grandkids, Ethan and Aaliyah; great-grandkids, Sydney, Zaiden and Braell; and his grandkids Preston (Christal), Nicole, Alisha (Jade), and Trevino; as well as many family members in Whitefish, AB. We apologize if we have missed anyone.

Peter was predeceased by his parents: father George Laboucan and mother Edith Gladue; his sister Rita and his brother James.

Wake Services will be held at the residence of Vivian Hunter ( Morley, AB) on Thursday, April 28, 2022. Funeral Services will be held at the residence of Vivian Hunter (Morley, AB) on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Wesley Cemetery (Morley, AB).  Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
