Obituary of Cheryl Garland McWilliam

August 3, 1949 – Toronto, Ontario

April 18, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

Well done my good and faithful servant she is now with her loving Heavenly Father. Cheryl passed away on Monday, April 18, 2022 in Calgary, Alberta. Cheryl was born August 3, 1949 in Toronto, Ontario.  She was the daughter of Russell (Pat) Davies and Dorothy (Dot) Garland. She and her older sister Susanne (Sherman Smith) grew up in Toronto and both attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Cheryl graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree majoring in Physical Education. 

She married her high school sweetheart John McWilliam in Dearborn, Michigan in 1971. Their journey through life together would be joined by seven children: Naomi Lovelace (Sterling Mack), Bradley McWilliam (Triska Read), Kimberley McWilliam, Christina McWilliam (Dennis Bourgeois), Greg McWilliam, Colleen (Robert Bonds), Julie (Thomas Dobbin). Cheryl would see thirteen grandchildren become part of the McWilliam clan: Tenysha, Aaliyah, Keshaun, Cas, Avarie, Selena, Eddie, Michael, Scout, Summer, Kaiden, Baer and Luna. She knew that a fourteenth grandchild was on the way. 

She and John would call many places home in their 51 years together, finally settling in Calgary. Her children were her joy and she always made sure that each of them knew what a blessing they were to her. Her love at home philosophy continued throughout her life and she taught her children by example of love and devotion. For those that knew her she was that special someone who will always be remembered and cannot be forgotten. 

A Memorial Service will be held at the Calgary Alberta Temple (9802 Rocky Ridge Rd NW), on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
