Obituary of Frank Kuncic

October 4, 1939 – Pakovo Selo, Croatia

April 20, 2022 - Conrich, Alberta

Frank Kuncic, beloved husband of Jelica Kuncic, of Conrich, AB, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at the age of 82.

Frank was born in the small village of Pakovo Selo, Croatia, on October 4, 1939. He immigrated to Canada with his wife in 1968 and called Calgary his home for the majority of his life. Frank was a Boilermaker pressure welder for over 42 years. He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local 146 in Calgary. Frank was a skilled welder who continued to love creating projects after he retired to help with chores on the farm. He also loved his family very much, and he was full of joy when his grandchildren were born.

Frank enjoyed hunting big game and fishing with his friends and family. He loved making wine each year and tinkering in his workshop, and when he went on vacation, it was always a treat to visit his homeland every few years.

Besides his loving wife, Frank is survived by his son Tomislav; and daughter Marija; three grandchildren, Matthew, Philipa, and Erena, of Calgary, AB. Frank is also survived by his brother, Ivica (Vesna), and his sister, Mirijana.  Frank was predeceased by his mother, Ana Kuncic; father, Jakov Kuncic; and his two brothers, Ante and Vlado Kuncic.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Eastside, 5388 Memorial Drive NE, Calgary, AB) on Monday, April 25, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. A private Graveside Service to follow at Queens’ Park Cemetery. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
