Shelley Cooper of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at the age of 60 years.

 

Shelley was born in Calgary, AB on January 5, 1962, and lived in Calgary her entire life. As a child, Shelley enrolled in gymnastics while still in grade school and that eventually evolved into her lifelong passion of dance. She started by enrolling in Lillian Cozzubbo School of Dance. There were dance recitals at the Jubilee Auditorium through her youth. In the 80s after a pause in her dance pursuits, she joined the University of Calgary Dance Club where she met many of her dance friends. Shelley danced competitively from 1990 to 2002 in both Ballroom and Latin American Dance culminating in competitions in Indonesia and Singapore. Her favorite dance was The Foxtrot, and she made many friends in the Calgary Dance Club where she was a respected member. Shelley had a career as a Draftsperson and worked at both AGT/Telus and Stantec.

 

Shelley is survived by her sister, Cheryl Mullen (Kevin); brothers, Ian Cooper, and Brian Cooper (Ardeth); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Shelley was predeceased by her parents, Don and Jeanette Cooper.

 

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Shelley Cooper’s service streamed live on the day of the service at www.McInnisandHolloway.com. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted. Condolences, memories, and photos may also be shared and viewed there.
