Obituary of Fern Elizabeth Sutherland

Fern Sutherland of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at the age of 84 years.

Fern was born in Elkhorn, MB and – after stops in Winnipeg and northern Ontario – settled in her forever home in Calgary with husband Fred and son Rob in 1970.

Fern is survived by her son Rob (Cristie) Sutherland; grandsons, Grant and Ryan; her brother Murray Soder of Oliver, BC, and many nieces and nephews. Fern was predeceased by her husband and best friend Fred Sutherland; her brothers, Robert, Gil, and Mil Soder; and her two sisters, Grace Pearn and Alice Stitt. 

Throughout her life, she enjoyed her passions of travel, her garden, family, and her network of friends.

A Celebration of Fern’s Life will be held in the coming weeks at one of her favourite restaurants. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
