Obituary of Blanche Eileen Biswanger (nee Anderson)

Eileen Biswanger, beloved wife of Bertrand Biswanger of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at the age of 92 years.

 

Eileen was born in Pincher Creek, AB on November 26, 1929. She moved to Calgary in 1950 and graduated from Garbutt’s Business College in the same year. Eileen worked as the secretary to the Deputy Chairman at the Petroleum & Natural Gas Conservation Board (ERCB), clerk in the library at Viscount Bennett High School and later as the school secretary at Mount Royal Junior High School.

 

Eileen married Bert on September 18, 1954 in Calgary.

 

Eileen was an avid reader, cross-country skier, hiker and golfer. She was also an enthusiastic water skier, square-dancer and bridge player. She was a member of the Second Sixties Seniors Outdoors Club and the Toastmasters. Eileen volunteered in several places: The Theatre Calgary, read with the elementary students at the nearby school in Marda Loop and with the Inn from the Cold, helping the homeless.

 

Eileen is survived by her son Blair (Cindy) Biswanger; grandaughter Jillian Newton and great-granddaughter Saige Newton), grandson Nathan Biswanger (Nicole Mullen), great-grandson Wells Biswanger of Calgary; two daughters, Diane Brosinsky (David) Brosinsky, granddaughter Larissa Brosinsky (fiancé Kevin Anstey), grandson Nikolas Brosinsky (fiancé Andrew Desaulniers) of Edmonton, and daughter Linda Biswanger of Calgary. She is also survived by her sister Merle (Harold) Ganske of Lethbridge. Eileen was predeceased by her husband Bert, her two sisters, Hazel Truitt (Dutch) and Olive Bonertz (Sam); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

 

Eileen will be most remembered for her kindness, sense of humor, independence, and her feisty, never-quit attitude. She was never afraid to try something new no matter her age. She was a great example and role-model for her children and grandchildren.

Energy – life’s force cannot be destroyed, it returns to the source of life. This is my belief. If I have harmed anyone, please forgive; if I have helped, remember.”

 

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
