Bonnie Rider

Obituary of Bonnie Rider

May 7, 1983 – Canmore, Alberta

May 11, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

On a sunny May afternoon, surrounded by prayers to the Great Spirit our mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, granddaughter, and friend Bonnie passed on to the Spirit World at the tender age of 39.

Born to parents, her father “Ade” Preston Powderface (Shelley) and late mother “Ena” Amelia Rider.

Bonnie grew up watching and helping her dad at a young age with fencing, training horses and lending a helping hand wherever and whenever she could. Bonnie had the natural ability to ride and train horses. Her first horse she owned at three years old, a Shetland pony, black as night and aptly named Night. Followed by her flashy high-spirited white horse who she named Barney. The one horse no one could handle but Bonnie alone.

Because of her horsemanship she developed at a young age, she briefly entered the rodeo arena and competed in the barrel racing event, in the surrounding local rodeos. She continued her love of horse riding until arthritis prevented her.

There are many funny and fond memories of Bonnie that are held dear to our hearts. There are too many to mention as family and friends recall her being a social butterfly and ending every conversation with “I Love you guys”. She was one tough girl who liked to make friends and lived life to the fullest. Bonnie will be remembered for her infectious smile and hearty laughter.

Our beloved Bonnie leaves behind to mourn her passing, her two beautiful children, Kimberley and Johnathan; her pride and joy, her two precious grandchildren Giana and Cooper; her common-law companion Walter Brendan Twoyoungmen; her father Preston (Shelley); her siblings, Vernon, Laurie, Ted; aunts, Jacqueline, and Dianne; great aunts, Gwen Ryder and Lavine Brown; maternal grandma Catherine; as well as numerous families, extended relatives on both her paternal and maternal sides, and friends. We apologize if we have missed anyone.

Bonnie is reunited with her mom Amelia and daughter Angel. Bonnie is also predeceased by her grandparents Rita Rider and John Labelle; great aunts, Lorraine, May, Stella; brothers, Byron, Darrel, Fred, Jerry; sisters, Arlene, Louise, Victoria, Valerie, Lorraine, Teresa, Annette, and Lynette.
