Obituary of Bengt-Göran Renborg
August 27, 1928 – Västerås, Sweden
May 12, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta
On May 12, 2022 Bengt-Göran Renborg (BG) passed away quickly and peacefully after contracting COVID-19 at the age of 93 years.
BG was a naval architect who gained his experience working in the shipbuilding industry in Sweden and around the world. At 50 years of age BG and his wife Ing-Britt took a chance on a new life in Canada and moved to Calgary. At that time (1978) Bengt-Göran adopted his new Canadian name “BG”. BG’s aim was to build an icebreaker in order to explore for natural resources in the Canadian arctic.
The most important thing to BG was family. Ing-Britt was the love of his life for some 70 years. She meant everything to him. Their relationship is the true definition of unconditional love.
BG is survived by his wife Ing-Britt; his three children, Anders, Stina and Annika; and six grandchildren, Ian, Tom, Libby, Danny, Thomas and Lars.
A private celebration of BG’s life will be held at a later date. Condolences, memories, and photos may also be shared and viewed here.
A special thank you to the staff at Southwood Care Centre who took the time to understand who BG was and made the last 6 months of his life as good as possible.
In memory of Bengt-Göran Renborg, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes.
