Obituary of Derek Dufferin John Lesiuk

LESIUK, Derek Dufferin John

May 16, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with broken hearts that we share the sad news of Derek Dufferin John Lesiuk, fondly known as “Duke” to his friends. He passed away suddenly but peacefully at his home on Monday, May 16, 2022.

Derek was born in Murrayville, BC, on April 6, 1959, to Dmeytro (Les) and June Lesiuk. From a young age, he brought home all manners of wildlife and strays which included turtles, snakes, cats, and dogs. He loved the outdoors and played soldier as a child and fulfilled that dream by becoming a proud member of the PPCLI, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, an elite regiment of the Canadian Armed Forces. Derek was a hard worker, who loved to ride Harley’s in his leisure time with a big heart for the underdog.

Derek is survived by his mother June, sisters Wendy, Gail, and Leslie and their families; and step-siblings Wayne, Cam, Wanda, and families. He was predeceased by his father “Les”.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Juliet's Castle Sports Bar and Lounge (16 Ave. N.E. Calgary, AB) on Sunday, June 12, 2022, from 2:00 p.m to 5:00 p.m. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
