Condolences
It was so sad to hear this news about Bruce! He was at ACH as long as I have and I recently got to see him on one of my recent shifts. We got to catch up like usual, although as always it was not nearly long enough. Bruce was a terrific ambassador for our department and hospital and I was always so happy to see him there when I was working, especially on weekends. He was always such a kind and friendly man to both staff and patients. I can remember working some horrible weekends (back when we had way less coverage) and Bruce always went out of his way to make sure that we were all OK, getting us drinks or snacks, looking at extra ways of pitching in, etc. And he was absolutely amazing with the families, which I know shielded me from many angry parents, complaints, etc. He was the consummate team player and an incredibly selfless man. For the rest of my time at ACH up until now, I was always comforted just by seeing that he was on shift with me on the days I showed up for work. And I always made sure to enjoy one of his Tim Horton's treats for the team. I recently worked a Saturday morning, a day Bruce would normally have been there, and it just felt that these weekend shifts will never be the same again. I don't know if I have met a kinder, gentler, friendlier person in all my years. A real gem . . . irreplaceable . . . and will be sorely missed!! My sincere condolences for you loss.
I’ve known Bruce for 15 years at the Children’s. I’m terribly sorry for you loss. Bruce is a good kind man and he will be missed. He was always smiling and up for a chat anytime. It was so welcoming and made any shift with him there a better one. He was one of a kind and impacted us all. We will miss you!
Please tell Bruce daughter and Family how much we valued Bruce and he was the kindest calm man and had such a beautiful heart. The kids loved to see him and he always put a smile on staff faces. We loved hearing about his adventures and loved how positive he was. We will miss him! Kim Siemens RN
