Obituary of Helen Elsie Harasymchuk

 

April 14, 1935 – Eatonia, Saskatchewan

May 21, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

 

 

Helen Harasymchuk, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at the age of 87 years.

 

Helen was born and attended public school in Eatonia, Sask. Where she spent her childhood on the family farm. Helen moved to Calgary, AB in the 1950’s and was employed by the Alberta Government Telephones, where she was a long-distance switchboard operator, until moving to an administrative position within the Alberta Oil & Gas industry.

 

Helen was involved in many social aspects within her Ukrainian Orthodox Church. She displayed her generosity by volunteering her time to help raise money for the Alberta Cancer Society. Helen received an award from Canadian Blood Services for the number of donations she had made over the years.

 

Helen was a very kind and gentle soul; she gained many valued friends throughout the years, including those she met more recently at her retirement residence. All of whom she stayed connected with right up until her final week.

 

Helen is survived by brother-in-law Jim McFalls; nephew Bill Lorriman; niece Sandy Patten; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family throughout Canada. Helen was predeceased by her brother Peter; sisters Sonia McFalls, Mary Lorriman, and Nettie Bandy; parents John Harasymchuk and Anna (Louie) Luchenko.
