Willie Singbeil, beloved husband of Lucille Singbeil (nee Schubert), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022, at the age of 95 years.

Willie was born on the farm, at SW 21-12-1 W3 on December 15, 1926, during a blizzard and delivered by his father.  He was the fifth child of eleven.  He grew up on the farm.  He was a self-made musician, and in his younger days played clarinet, and saxophone in the Singbeil Orchestra.  They would play at dances locally and at neighbouring towns.

He started farming on his own at the age of eighteen.  His motto was “Can’t won’t master me”.  It was with that determination, grit, and hard work that he would tackle any project.

Willie married Lucille on June 7, 1952, and together they farmed for another 40 years, a mile west of where was born.

He served on the St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church Board for many years, the local Saskatchewan Wheat Pool Board, and the Mossbank Co-op Board.

Willie and Lucille retired in 1991 and moved to Calgary.  Never one to sit still, he was forever building or fixing something.  A farmer at heart, he continued gardening for many years.  He was always there to lend a helping hand and offer his expertise.

Besides his loving wife and life partner of 70 years, Lucille; Willie is survived by his daughters, Susan (Ken) Burley, and Denise (Pierre) Lussier; his grandchildren, Ashley and Kevin Burley, Derek, and Chantal Lussier.

Willie is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Leon (Freda) Singbeil, Ted (Joan) Singbeil and Doreen Singbeil; his sisters, Doreen Suglove, Pauline Jones, and Mert Trent; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Willie was predeceased by his parents, Adolf, and Emelia Singbeil; his father-in-law and mother-in law, William, and Sylvia Schubert; his brothers, Johnny, Art, and Donny; his sisters, Ruth Love, and Edna Rollie; his brothers-in-law, Newt Dinsmore, Hugh Love, Morris Rollie, John Suglove, Bob Jones, Lee Trent, Joe Mahowald, and Howard Schubert; his sisters-in law, Audrey Dinsmore, Betty Weiss, and Pat Schubert.
