Obituary of Jack Morin

January 22, 1936 – Leask, Saskatchewan

May 22, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Jack Peter Morin at the age of 86 years on Sunday, May 22, 2022.

Jack was a devoted and loving husband to his surviving wife of 61 years, Shirley Morin (nee Vandale).

Besides his loving wife, Jack is survived by his six daughters and six sons-in-law, Linda (Bob), Connie (Mike), Grace (Ken), Esther (Darryl), Sandy (Zachary), and Sheryl (Blaine); one son and daughter-in-law Jack (Anne), who will miss him more than words can say. He was a loving Papa to 14 grandchildren, and Great-Grand-Papa to 17 great-grandchildren all of whom he loved dearly, and no tummy went hungry when Papa was around.

Jack was predeceased by his parents, the late Alfred Morin and his first wife Alvina (nee Bourassa), sister Patsy and brother Raymond.

His surviving family also includes Alfred’s second wife Mary (nee Boyer); and 12 siblings, Doris, Leona, Fred (Penny), Margaret, Theresa (Joe), Marie (Steve), Debbie (Ian), Esther (Darrell), Donald (Lisa), Joyce (Cal), Annette (Shane), and his many nieces and nephews.

Jack was born in Leask, SK, but he grew up in Leoville, SK, learning and working alongside his dad in the homestead, this is also where he met Shirley and they married. They then moved to Calgary, AB, and he started his career as an Ironworker, which he was very proud of, and his career lasted until he retired in 1987, quite an accomplishment! Upon retirement, they moved back to Chitek Lake, SK, and enjoyed some good years of fishing, golfing, riding the quad, berry picking and just being around all their relatives that live in that beautiful northern part of the province.

In the last years of his life, Jack and Shirley moved back to Calgary, AB, much to the joy of their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Shirley still resides in Calgary, AB, with her loved ones.

The family would also like to thank the staff, nurses, and doctors at the Rocky View Hospital, especially Unit 94.

The family would be honoured if you would join them for a Celebration of Jack’s Life, this will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Eastside, 5388 Memorial Drive NE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. with a light lunch to follow at the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch 275, 755 40 Street SE, Calgary, AB) from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
