Obituary of Susan Rosamund Maura Munson
March 4, 1946 - Oxford, England
May 26, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Susan Munson on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at the age of 76 years.
Susan was born in Oxford, England to Ralph and Margerite (Peggy) Chambers and immigrated to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan as a teenager. She met her husband Edwin (Ed) Munson in Prince Albert and married in 1967 and shortly thereafter moved to Queen Charlotte Islands. They welcomed their first son, Christopher, in 1973 in Port Alberni and then soon thereafter moved back to Prince Albert where, three years later, Bryn was born.
Susan was very proud of her time working in executive administration at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert and when the family relocated back to Port Moody in 1988, Susan then continued the same work at St. Mary’s Hospital in New Westminster until she retired.
In 2004, Susan and Ed moved to Cochrane, Alberta to be closer to their sons and family. Susan enjoyed her retirement with Ed and filled her days with nurturing her beautiful backyard garden, volunteering for the Cochrane & District Horticultural Society and working at the Cochrane Big Hill Springs Lodge. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with her grandson, working at the Lodge in her spare time and baking. Somewhere in between, she still found time to indulge in her special passion for fashion and loved the ladies at the Paisley Boutique.
Susan is survived by her sons Chris (JoAnne) and Bryn (Christine) and grandson Ben. She was predeceased by her husband Ed.
A private family service will be held. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
In living memory of Susan Munson, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Cochrane, 369 Railway Street, Cochrane, AB T4C 2E2, Telephone: 403-932-4740.
