Obituary of Corinne Catherine Feldhaus
August 27, 1933 - Bruno, Saskatchewan
May 31, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta
With immense sadness we share the passing of Corinne Feldhaus on the morning of Tuesday, May 31 at the age of 88 years.
The decline in her health over the past month was significant, both physically and mentally. We are very sad that she was taken from us so quickly and unexpectedly, but we are grateful that her suffering is over and that now she is at peace.
Born August 27, 1933 to a large farm family in Bruno, SK, Corinne retained her independent farm resourcefulness and no-nonsense approach throughout her life. She met her husband, Clemens, at a church dance after moving to Calgary in 1964. They were married soon after and welcomed to the world their daughter Cathy, and son Paul. Years later saw the arrival of grandson Jesse, who enriched Corinne and Clemens life immensely. They took great enjoyment in spending time with him.
Corinne was the proud keeper of family traditions. Old traditions, 40 years of baking Stollen for Christmas morning and Black Forest Cake for her husband's birthday, and new traditions, like the baking and decorating enormous plate-sized personalized sugar cookies for all of Jesse's daycare friends and family every year. Old traditions were upheld, and new traditions were created with love and family at the centre.
Mom’s great loves were reading and cats, and many a day we would visit to find her nose in a book and her faithful kitty curled up at her side. She read more books in a week than some do in a lifetime and instilled this same love of reading into her children. Participating in the church community, choir and CWL brought Corinne joy throughout her life.
Corinne is survived by her children, Cathy (Cory) and Paul, and her only grandson Jesse and his wife Elladee. She was predeceased by her husband Clemens in July 2020.
