Obituary of Cameron Mitchell Rees
June 9, 1955 – Taber, Alberta
June 3, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta
Cameron Rees passed away on June 3rd, 2022, at his home surrounded by his immediate family, at the young age of 66 years old.
He was born in Taber, AB and raised in Calgary, AB. Cam enjoyed living in his city. He loved being able to turn a corner and encounter a familiar face for a latte. The view of the Rockies on his way home from work continuously gave him comfort.
Cam grew up playing football, basketball, and wrestling, playing throughout his years in high school and university. He graduated from the University of Calgary with a degree in Commerce. He loved to work on his model trains and on the rebuilding of his 1970 Camaro.
Cam was a great carpenter and gardener, as he loved spending time outside and in nature. He was an avid reader of all things history and music. He was a constant listener of classic and folk rock, throughout the generations. He was a chartered accountant and had often made the joke “Old Accountants don’t die, they just get totaled.”
Cam will be remembered for his lighthearted, easygoing attitude, kind and calm demeanor, love for his children and grandchildren, and having a hangout on the couch, watching sports games, or reading after a hard day’s work.
Cameron is survived by his three children, Marc (Emily), Julianna, and Christina, and their mother Maria Binnion. Cameron is also survived by his two brothers, Daryl (Michelle) and Kelvin (Gayle). He is grandfather to Luka James and Orlaith Claire. He was predeceased by his parents, Elwyn “Spud” Rees and Ella Mae Rees, as well as his younger brother, Ronald Arthur Rees.
A Memorial will be held at the Calgary Petroleum Club (319 5 Avenue S.W.) on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
