Obituary of Earl James Miller
January 2, 1938 – Lethbridge, Alberta
June 10, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with great sadness that the family of Earl Miller of Calgary, AB, announces his passing on Friday, June 10, 2022, at the age of 84.
Earl was predeceased by his loving wife of 36 years, Joyce Miller, son Max Parrish; and his parents, James and Blanche Miller.
Earl is survived by his companion of 17 years, Mirtha Radakovic. He is also survived by children, Linda (Glenn) Mackenzie, and Lyle (Kim) Parrish; grandchildren, Cameron and Alison Mackenzie, Cody Parrish (Reid Fiest), and Ashley (Jeff) Wright; and great-grandchild Rylee Wright.
Earl was born in Lethbridge, AB on January 2, 1938, and he moved to Calgary, AB in 1967. In his early years, Earl enjoyed participating in the Rifleman’s Rodeos and competitive target shooting. He was a proud member of the Alberta Arms and Cartridge Association. Earl’s greatest passion was wood working in his shop. He created hand crafted furniture and toys and often referred to himself as the “wood butcher”.
Earl was self-employed, owning a successful sharpening business that he ran for over 20 years. In retirement, he enjoyed spending his summers in Blind Bay, BC at the family cabin. Earl will be remembered for always being willing to offer a helping hand to anyone who asked. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
A Celebration of Earl’s Life will be held at Sanderson Ridge, (Social Room on the main floor, 2330 Fish Creek Blvd SW, Calgary, AB, T2Y 0L1) on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, from 1:00-3:30 p.m. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
