Obituary of Anne Hughson
June 2, 1948 - Neepawa, Manitoba
June 12, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta
Anne Hughson, beloved wife of Roger Hughson, passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at the age of 74 years.
Anne was born in Neepawa, Manitoba, Canada on June 2, 1948. She moved to Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 1963, calling it home until her passing.
Anne graduated from the University of Calgary with a degree in Psychology in 1969. She received her Masters from the U of Calgary in 1973 then completed her Ph. D from the University of Alberta in 1997.
Anne married Roger Hughson in 1970 having recently celebrated their 52nd anniversary.
She volunteered with Inclusion Alberta for over 20 years supporting families to create a vision for their closest loved ones. Most notable was her facilitation of a yearly Family Leadership Series. She presented at numerous conferences and seminars across the world.
Of her many contributions, Inclusive Post-Secondary Education was one of her passions. She worked with families to establish the first inclusive post-secondary education initiative in the world and remained committed to supporting the development of family led initiatives across Canada and across the world. Anne accomplished much through her life and was particularly proud of her work with Inclusive Post-Secondary Education in Alberta and Steps Forward in British Columbia.
She was always in the middle of a new book and plotting her next adventure with Roger in support of her quest to travel the globe. She was committed to her friends and was an amazing host enjoying time spent with family and friends at home, abroad, and especially at the cabin.
Anne had a passion for helping people and creating the space for learning and growth. Anne was powerful and steadfast in supporting those, who were lucky to know her, to see the world in new ways. She led with curiosity and inspired others to be curious about the world.
Besides her loving husband, Anne is survived by her son and her daughter, Jesse (Kristen) and Kate (Eric). Anne is also survived by her sister Norrie (Hilary), niece Arden (Gray) and nephew Noel (Chloe), and great-niece Mary Jane. Anne was predeceased by her parents Walter and Dorothy Duncan.
She was taken too soon and with so much left to do. Her family and friends are heartbroken at the sudden loss.
